About Us

Our business was started in September 1993 by Steve and Karen Shackles. Providing professional snow removal along with superb customer service, while maintaining strong business ethics, has always been the cornerstone of our business.

We have been accredited members of the Rocky Mountain Better Business Bureau since 1996, affirming our commitment to ethical business practices, and giving our customers added confidence in doing business with us. In an industry that unfortunately abounds with fly-by-night endeavors that come and go as quickly as the weather, we have remained the stable and trustworthy choice.

Steve has over 30 years of experience plowing snow in Summit County. This lengthy familiarity with our unique weather challenges has given him experience which other contractors don’t have. He has been through the driest of our drought years and the heaviest of our snowy years, and is prepared no matter what each season may bring. For Steve, plowing snow is not just a job, it’s what he loves to do.

Karen has over 20 years of snow plowing experience, and while she credits Steve for originally teaching her how to plow, she has become a qualified professional in her own right. Our industry trade organization, the Snow & Ice Management Association (SIMA), administers a rigorous testing program, as well as required participation in a program of continuing education, to certify snow and ice professionals. In June 2003, Karen successfully completed the examination to become a Certified Snow Professional. She was the first CSP in the state of Colorado, and the fourth woman in North America to achieve this status. In 2016, Karen completed an additional in-depth course to also become certified as an Advanced Snow Manager. This course focuses on industry best practices and operational safety.

In 2004, we were proud to be chosen from contractors across North America to receive the SIMA Excellence In Business Award. Ethics, quality of service, customer satisfaction, and business knowledge were part of the criteria examined by the judges in the award process.

We focus on teaching our employees proper technique, safety, and above all exemplary customer service. Over the years, we have built a solid core of long-term, key employees. As business owners, we accept our personal responsibility to stand behind the services our company provides 100%.

At times we have made adjustments to the size and geographical scope of our business, learning to balance healthy growth with our ability to provide quality service. We view every challenge as an opportunity to learn and improve. We have consistently maintained an annual customer-retention rate over 95%, and we acknowledge our loyal customers who have stayed with us year after year, without whom we would not have a business.
